| Louis C. "Cy" Theobald, Jr. and his wife Jean
In making this gift, Cy said, "The best possible investment I could make would be to provide a Kent education to a worthy young man or woman. I believe so strongly in Kent School and have been grateful that I could spend most of my personal and professional life at Kent. I know Jean felt the same way. None of this is inherited money, just Yankee conservatism, starting with a modest salary from Kent 35 years ago. I bought houses, fixed them up, rented them to pay the mortgage, and then sold them. I also invested conservatively over a long period of time and just left those stocks alone. It means a great deal to me that we can give to students in the future the same kind of opportunities, both personally and professionally, that Jean and I were privileged to enjoy during our years at Kent."
Cy and Jean are among 23 current and former faculty members and/or their close relations who have affirmed their faith in Kent's mission by making provisions for the School's future well-being in their estate plans.
