The Bell Tower Society

In 1991 the Trustees of Kent School established the Bell Tower Society to "recognize, honor, and thank those who have determined to reach beyond their own lives to enhance opportunities for future generations of Kent School youth by thoughtfully including the School in their estate planning."

To date, over 530 graduates, spouses of graduates, parents, faculty, and friends of Kent have subscribed to the Bell Tower Society's Charter Declaration:

"Grateful for the special influence Kent School has had in our lives or in the lives of those dear to us and desiring both to perpetuate and enhance that influence for future members of the Kent family, we choose to be among those investing in the School's mission through a planned estate gift."

Gifts through estate planning are not entered into lightly -- whether revocable or irrevocable in nature. Such gifts proclaim one's faith in Kent School's future and in the worth of its mission just as St. Joseph's tower bells symbolize the importance Kent has always attached to faith as a compass for living. Such gifts help solidify the School's financial underpinnings just as firmly as the rock at the base of Mt. Algo provides a firm footing for the School and its central Chapel and Bell Tower. Indeed, one such major planned gift from Noel Sanborn '29 -- has recently resulted in fully endowing the maintenance of St. Joseph's Chapel.

The Bell Tower Society honors and seeks to perpetuate this distinguished tradition of giving at Kent School. Membership is accorded to anyone who chooses to remember Kent and invest in its mission through, any one or more of its Planned Giving Programs, including bequests, life-income arrangements, charitable lead trusts, and other deferred gifts. Members receive a handsome pin; a listing of their names in each year's Annual Giving Report (unless anonymity is requested); annual recognition events; select seminars; access to ongoing professional gift planning services tailored to one's individual needs and, last but not least, Kent School's abiding gratitude. Please contact us for more information on how to join.
