| William A. Howland ’32
Coming from the mountains of western North Carolina as a Second Former in 1927, Bill Howland discovered an immediate affinity with Kent’s rural location in the southern Berkshires. After graduating from Kent and spending a year at the Severn School in Annapolis, Bill entered The United States Naval Academy. He served briefly at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida before joining American Airlines, supporting the military’s supply efforts during WWII and afterwards rising to Flight Captain of a 747 before his retirement in 1973.
